Guadalupe Barrientos was born in Buenos Aires in 1986. She made her studies at the Superior Art Institute of the Colon Theater, at the Opera Studio of the Argentinian Theater of La Plata, and at the Staatsoper Berlin with the soprano Julia Varady.

She resulted finalist of the International Singing Competition “Neue Stimmen” 2011 and was invited to participate at the 25th Anniversary Meisterkurs with the soprano Edda Moser. She was chosen by the Association of Music Critics “Best Argentinian Singer 2012”.

At the Colon Theater of Buenos Aires she starred Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana co-starring with Jose Cura), La Cenerentola, she sang Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Sphinx (Oedipe), Emilia (Otello), Meg (Falstaff), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), among others. Carmen at Nestor Kirchner Auditorium conducted be Jose Cura. At the Argentinian Theater of La Plata was Charlotte (Werther), Olga (Eugene Onegin), she sang Verdi´s Requiem under the conduction of Alejo Pérez, Adalgisa (Norma) and Maddalena (Rigoletto). Participated at the 8th and 13th Zurich Sea Gala. At the Cankarjev Dom of Ljubljana she sang Amneris (Aida), and at the Slovenian National Theater Carmen, Isabella (Italiana in Algeri), Zia and Zitta (Il Trittico), Amneris (Aida), Davila (Samson and Dalila), Mère Marie de L`Incarnation (Dialogues des Carmelites); being hailed by the national and international critics and public. At the Bunkamura Orchard Hall of Tokyo assumed the lead role in Carmen and was subsequently invited to play Amneris (Aida) next to the famous soprano Maria Guleghina.

She recorded Isabella (L´Italiana in Algeri) and Mère Marie (Dialosgues des Carmelites) with the Slovenian National Radio.

Among her future engagements she will be Azucena (Il Trovatore) with Marcelo Alvarez as Manrico, and Principessa di Bouillon (Adriana Lecouvreur) with Angela Gheorghiu, 8th of Mahler and the Cat (Puss in boots) for kids at Colon Theater of Buenos Aires; Fricka (Das Rheingold), Azucena (Il trovatore) and Sonyetka(Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) in Slovenian National Theater.
